He pointed out a few recent knocks, among them scores of 171 off 95 balls, 190 off 84 balls, and an 108 not out off 61 balls. He was one of the first to react on social media with the statement that the performances of the 14-year-old Vaibhav were just unimaginable.

On Wednesday, the young cricketer hit 127 runs off 74 balls against South Africa U-19 team in the third Youth ODI. He had 10 sixes and 9 fours in his innings. Vaibhav's century in Youth ODI cricket made him the youngest Under-19 captain to score a hundred.

Focus on Upcoming Tournaments

Ashwin said he would be very happy to see Vaibhav at the Under-19 World Cup starting on January 15. He also expressed his desire to see Vaibhav playing in the Indian Premier League. With Sanju Samson leaving the Rajasthan Royals, it is likely that Vaibhav will be the opener for his first full IPL season.

Impact in the Indian Premier League

Vaibhav had his IPL debut towards the end of last season. He created a whirlwind by blasting a century off just 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans, thus making his presence felt immediately. Rajasthan Royals later had him on a retention deal of ₹1.10 crore for the IPL 2026 season, which is a sign of their confidence in his future growth.
