India’s cricket team started the ODI series against New Zealand positively with a win in the first match played at Vadodara. The Indian team chased a huge score and managed to win with the last ball. The win gave a 1-0 lead to India in the series of three matches. Both the teams performed well, but India got the win in the very last moment.

Shreyas Iyer was the next top scorer with 49 runs. With the asking rate being 1 run a ball and the required runs being 67 from 66 balls with still 8 wickets remaining, the match got exciting.
- Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson got the priced wicket of Virat Kohli and also Ravindra Jadeja in the same over, which added to the stress. Nevertheless, Harshit Rana (29) and KL Rahul (29 not out) counter-attacked and then steadied the innings. After Rana was dismissed, Washington Sundar came to bat with KL Rahul. Sundar had already suffered an injury and taken medical attention before bowling but he stayed in the middle with the help of the physio till the end.
