Bangladesh Captain Litton Das Avoids Comment On T20 World Cup Controversy

Bangladesh captain Litton Das refused to comment on the huge discussion about the 2026 T20 World Cup. He just said that discussing the issue was not safe for him. Bangladesh's participation is still in question, with only two weeks to go before the tournament.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) asked the ICC to move their matches from India to Sri Lanka because they were troubled about security. Reports say that the ICC has told the BCB that switching venues is not an option because of the tight schedule. Officials from the ICC and BCB have met two times but there is still no official communication from the ICC.

Litton Das's Input to the Media

After the match of Bangladesh’s Premier League, Litton Das was asked about his team’s participation in the World Cup. He simply replied that neither he nor anyone else was sure of the matter. He further said, "I know what question you want to ask, but it is not safe for me to say anything. I will not answer it."

 ICC Sets Deadline to Bangladesh

The ICC has set a deadline for the BCB to formally declare whether or not it will take part in the 2026 T20 World Cup in India. If Bangladesh fails to give its decision by Wednesday, it will be automatically excluded from the tournament. Reports say that in such a scenario, the ICC intends to swap Bangladesh with Scotland.

An ICC spokesperson said, “We have made it quite clear to BCB that they need to make a call on the T20 World Cup 2026 participation by Wednesday. If Bangladesh chooses not to go to India, we are ready to slide in a team based on the current rankings.”As the deadline is set to expire today, the spotlight is on BCB’s final decision.
