Rahul Dravid Highlights Growth of Indian Cricket

  • Rahul Dravid who served as India national team captain and coach believes that Indian cricket currently achieves success because it possesses inherent talent which has existed throughout its history. He spoke during the annual awards ceremony organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
  • Dravid received the Colonel C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award during the event. The award was also given to former cricketers Roger Binny and Mithali Raj. The BCCI awards this honor as its most prestigious recognition to players who have made outstanding contributions to Indian cricket.
  • Dravid explained that Indian cricket has made substantial progress during the past three decades. The organization achieved success through its combination of strong leaders and skilled trainers and state-of-the-art training facilities.
  • He also praised the domestic cricket structure in India. The domestic system and junior programs continue to produce talented players according to Dravid. These systems help India remain competitive at the international level.

Recent ICC Tournament Success

  • Indian teams have achieved several major international victories in recent years. The men’s team won two ICC Men's T20 World Cup titles. The women’s team won the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in 2025.
  • India won both the ICC Under‑19 Cricket World Cup in 2026 and the Women’s Under-19 World Cup in 2025. These wins show the depth of talent across Indian cricket teams.

Shubman Gill and Smriti Mandhana Receive Top Awards

  • Shubman Gill and Smriti Mandhana received the Best International Cricketer awards at the BCCI ceremony.
  • Gill won the award in the men’s category. Mandhana received the award in the women’s category. Gill won the award for the second time. Mandhana received her fifth award.
  • Gill performed strongly in Test cricket during 2025. He scored 754 runs in 10 innings during India’s tour of England at an average of 75.40. He played a significant role in India’s triumph at the ICC Champions Trophy.
  • Mandhana produced a historic performance in 2025. She scored 1,703 international runs in a single calendar year. This is the highest yearly total by a female cricketer. Out of these runs, 1,362 runs came in One Day Internationals, which is also a record for women’s ODI cricket.

The BCCI also honored players from Indian teams that won five ICC trophies since 2025. The players who received recognition included Arundhati Reddy, Gongadi Trisha, and Shabnam from the Telugu states.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sets IPL Goal

  • Young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi was part of India’s Under-19 World Cup winning team. He currently plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.
