Government Grants Permission for IPL 2026 Matches
- The Government of Karnataka has approved hosting upcoming IPL matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
- The government made the decision after they examined the expert committee security assessment report. G. Parameshwara, the Home Minister, led the meeting. The decision followed a review of a report prepared by an expert committee on security and preparedness.
RCB Match Schedule and Venue Details
- The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will play its home matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
- The RCB team will compete in five league games which will take place in Bengaluru.
- The team will play two league matches at its secondary venue, the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium.
Bengaluru has two possible options to host which include:
- One IPL playoff match
- The IPL final
Enhanced Security After Previous Incident
- A crowd incident occurred during RCB’s victory celebrations last year. The Justice Cunha committee recommended stronger safety measures after analyzing the situation.
- The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) implemented better crowd management systems according to the recommendations. The updates received confirmation from Secretary Santosh Menon.
New Crowd Management and Safety Measures
- The authorities developed multiple initiatives which enhance safety while decreasing crowding at the venue.
- The stadium will permit entrance to 35000 people only.
- The entry gates will open 3 to 4 hours before match time.
- The venue will establish separate entrance lines which will serve women and children.
- The system will enable better crowd movement together with enhanced crowd oversight capabilities.
Free Metro Travel for Ticket Holders
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will support match-day transport.
- Ticket holders will receive free Metro travel.
- The initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion near the stadium.
