Gujarat Titans Secure Another IPL Final Berth With Dominant Qualifier 2 Victory

Gujarat Titans have, once again shown why they are among the most consistent teams in the IPL. In Qualifier 2, they beat Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets to grab a spot in the IPL final, and honestly it felt pretty inevitable. The win was put together on the back of a brilliant century from captain Shubman Gill and some serious momentum from the opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan.

While chasing a tough target of 215, Gujarat got to 219/3 in only 18.4 overs. So yeah the result now sets up a final against the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Gujarat continue their remarkable IPL journey

  • Since they entered the IPL in 2022, Gujarat Titans have basically stamped themselves as one of the league’s strongest outfits. This latest win sends them to another final and gives them a real chance to chase, a second championship.
  • They’ve had a mix of steady leadership, reliable batting and a bowling unit that can actually deliver when it matters. Their performance in Qualifier 2 was another reminder that they can handle high-pressure games without getting rattled.

Gill leads the chase with a match-winning century

From the start, the chase was controlled by Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Their aggressive mindset kept Gujarat ahead of the required run rate for most of the innings, rather comfortably.

Gill produced what looked like one of his best knocks of the season, 104 runs off 53 balls. In that innings he hit 15 fours and three sixes. He got to his fifty in 30 balls, then didn’t slow down as the finish line came closer.

Strong opening partnership sets the tone

  • Sudharsan gave him excellent backing, with 58 runs from 32 balls. The two went after almost every bowler they faced, and they also stopped Rajasthan from building any real pressure period.
  • By the end of the 10th over , Gujarat had made it to 127 without loss. The partnership actually crossed 150 before Sudharsan got dismissed. At that point honestly , the result of the match was mostly decided already.
  • The first wicket pair gave Gujarat full control over the chase and left Rajasthan looking around like they needed some answers.

Gujarat wrap up the chase with ease

After Sudharsan and Gill departed, Gujarat still needed just a small amount of runs. Washington Sundar made 16 runs , while Rahul Tewatia stayed not out on 17.

Jos Buttler was also unbeaten on 9, and Gujarat finished the job with eight balls still left.

Rajasthan bounce back after the early blows

  • Rajasthan Royals ended on 214/6 , a score that looked competitive in the end especially after a tough beginning.
  • They started badly, Yashasvi Jaiswal was out for 1 in the opening over. Dhruv Jurel followed soon after, and suddenly Rajasthan were at 9/2.
  • From there, a big total seemed out of reach.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi brings the innings back

Vaibhav Suryavanshi played the most crucial innings for Rajasthan. Instead of rushing into things right away, he slowed his tempo a little, adjusted, then rebuilt the innings step by step.

He made 96 runs off 47 balls, hitting eight fours and seven sixes. That knock had a blend of calm patience and aggression, and it helped Rajasthan recover from those early stumbles.

Vaibhav also upped the pace in the middle part and later phases. Even though he missed the century by four, his effort still set Rajasthan up very well.

Ferreira adds a late punch

Ravindra Jadeja contributed an unbeaten 45 and helped steady the innings after a few wickets had fallen.

Donovan Ferreira then provided a big jump at the end, like suddenly everything clicked. He stayed unbeaten on 38 off just 11 balls, finding the rope time and time again and nudging Rajasthan past that 200-run boundary.

That late assault really turned a decent total into something more testing, not easy at all.

Key Moments that kind of steered the match

A few different phases here and there ended up mattering a lot for how it finished.

Rajasthan’s middle-order had trouble

After the powerplay, Rajasthan lost their rhythm. Riyan Parag, Dasun Shanaka and Jofra Archer couldn’t stitch together any solid partnerships.

At one point the team slid to 118/5 in the 13th over. That spell trimmed their opportunity to go even bigger, you could feel it.

Even though Vaibhav and the lower order bounced back strongly, the earlier middle-over losses kept Rajasthan’s scoring ceiling in check.

Gujarat’s bowlers made timely breaks

Gujarat’s bowling didn’t let Rajasthan fully settle in, they kept cutting the momentum whenever it looked like a takeover was coming.

Kagiso Rabada grabbed two wickets, and he also removed both Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel. Jason Holder took two as well, and his wickets in the middle overs mattered.

Mohammed Siraj struck early too, dismissing Jaiswal, so Rajasthan had pressure from the start, not the calm kind.

Toss mix-up then a retake

Right before play began, there was a short bout of confusion.

During the first toss there was doubt over whether Rajasthan captain Riyan Parag had clearly called the coin. Because of the noise inside the stadium, match officials decided to replay the toss.

The second toss went smoothly. Parag called it right and chose to bat first.

People noticed it for sure, but in the end it didn’t really affect the final outcome.

Sai Sudharsan’s back to back surprise exits

During the chase, Sai Sudharsan suffered an unusual dismissal, and it happened in an odd consecutive way.

So he was trying a drive, but the whole thing went a bit wrong—control of his bat slipped , and it smashed the stumps, leading to a hit wicket dismissal. This was kind of the same as what happened when he got out in the previous qualifier too, like mirror vibes you know.

Because of that, Sudharsan became the first batter in IPL history to be dismissed hit wicket in two back to back games, and honestly that’s a rare sort of record.

What this Result Means going into the IPL Final

Gujarat Titans are coming in with real momentum. Their batting order looks sharp, and the main names are showing up at the exact right moments, like timing is perfect.

For Rajasthan Royals, the tournament’s over, even if a few contributions were still solid. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was one of them, plus there were several others who did their bit.

Now, attention naturally turns to the championship match, where Gujarat Titans will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore. Since both sides have been performing well all season, this final should be watched very closely, no doubt.
