After losing the opening round to Uzbekistan's world champion Fazliddin Erkinboev, Panghal fought back hard in the last two rounds and eventually won the match on the judges' scorecards. He will now face off against South Korea's Kim Min-Seong for the gold medal.

India also secured a boxing bronze medal through Narender, who lost his semifinal match to Kazakhstan's Aibek Oralbay. Despite slipping behind early on in the match, Narender came back strongly in the final round, but Oralbay eventually got the unanimous decision.

China won the final with a time of 40.78 seconds, while Thailand secured silver with a time of 40.87 seconds.
