A showdown, in a sense, took place between Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and Jagityala MLA Dr. Sanjay, after a Sunday session to discuss developmental programs turned ugly at the Karimnagar Collectorate. Ministers and other public representatives attending the session were shocked as they witnessed a heated exchange of words between two MLA's during the session.
The incident took place in the presence of Irrigation Minister and joint Karimnagar district in-charge, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy. When Dr. Sanjay was speaking on topics like farmer assurance, Indiramma's spiritual assurance, housing projects under Indiramma, and the issuance of new ration cards, Kaushik Reddy interrupted. Reddy, sitting next to Sanjay, objected and said, "Don't give him the mic. Which party are you from?"
Dr. Sanjay replied, "What are you doing with this? I am of the Congress party. Let me sit." It snowballed into a physical fight as Kaushik Reddy pushed Dr. Sanjay's hand and hurled abuses. MLAs Makkan Singh and Vijayaraman Rao from the adjoining sectors tried to calm him down but in vain. Police finally intervened by dragging him forcibly out of the house to regain possession.
MLA of Karimnagar, Gangula Kamalakar and MLC Ramana were seen leaving in the wake of sudden exit from the house by Kaushik Reddy.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy condemn
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly denounced the episode as unprecedented in his political career. In fact, the seven-time winner legislator condemns Kaushik Reddy's behaviour toward a fellow legislator on an official function.
He emphasized the government's focus on ensuring that eligible citizens receive the benefits of developmental schemes, particularly the Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa program, which supports landless laborers. This initiative, he claimed, is unmatched nationwide.
Minister Sridhar Babu, too, strongly condemned the incidence, pointing fingers at the opposition of the very opportunity that has been denied during the tenure of the ruling party Bharatiya Janata. He said this outburst from Kaushik Reddy is an attempt at publicity.
Reactions from Other Leaders
