Sanchar Saathi: Simplifying Complaint Processes For Fraudulent Calls And SMS

The Department of Telecommunications has designed an app, called the Sanchar Saathi mobile application. Using the mobile app makes reporting a case of fraudulent call/SMS to an authority simpler and more straightforward for the consumer. It is downloadable from Android as well as iOS stores, enabling an easy and uncomplicated method to lodge a complaint by directly going through the call log in their phones to send it through this application interface to the respective department.

The application can also monitor all connections given under a user's name. This will help in de-linking unauthorized connection attached to the user's credentials. In case of such a connection, users can lodge complaints for removal. Freeze or Locate Lost/Stolen Mobile Phones: This is another important feature. The freezing and locating features provide additional security and convenience as well.

Sanchar Saathi Portal and Further Developments

The Sanchar Saathi portal has already been the one to initiate the curbing of fraudulent calls earlier by DoT. By introducing the mobile app, more accessibility is developed for users that block fraudulent calls more effectively with increased security.

Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced the Vision for National Broadband Mission 2.0 and the Digital India Fund programs during the app launch in Delhi. These initiatives intend to strengthen the privacy and security of users through a safer digital space. The overall efforts are testimony to the commitment of the government to protect the citizens from digital frauds, while pushing for connectivity and security.
