'Retro' is a new Indian Tamil-language romantic action film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film will be produced by Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment. Suriya and Pooja Hegde will feature in the main roles, and Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Prem Kumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Remya Suresh, and George Maryan play other roles in the film.
The movie was tentatively titled Suriya 44 when announced in the preliminary title in March 2024 with the tagline Love, Laughter and War, and the title was officially declared in December 2024. Major portions of the film were shot from June 2024 till early-October. Areas for filming were Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ooty, Kerala and Chennai. The film has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography handled by Shreyaas Krishna and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali.
'Retro' is scheduled to be released worldwide on 1 May 2025 in theatres.
