Air Ambulances Without Runway Set To Arrive In India

VTOL air ambulances, which are currently available in just a handful of countries, are arriving in India. The cutting-edge air ambulances will be manufactured by electric airplane startup ePlane, which entered into a $1 billion deal to do so just recently.

ICATT and ePlane Partnership

Indian air ambulance services operator ICATT has partnered with ePlane to introduce 788 electric VTOL air ambulances in India. The company is going to provide these services in all the districts. The air ambulances will be delivered by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Features and Specifications

  • Three Prototypes: ePlane is developing three various models to address various geographical and population density needs.
  • Capacity: All air ambulances will have a pilot, a paramedic, a patient, a stretcher, and emergency medical equipment.
  • Speed & Range: They have a flying speed of 200 km/h and a range of 110-200 km on a single charge.
