Ramoji Awards Honor Inspiring Contributors Across India

Overview of the Ceremony

  • The Ramoji Excellence Awards, instituted in memory of Ramoji Rao, were given to those contributing in the fields of social and professional development. The awards presentation ceremony was held at Ramoji Film City on Sunday. Awardees were chosen from the fields of journalism, rural development, social service, science and technology, arts and culture, women empowerment, and youth leadership.
  • Each awardee was given a souvenir, a certificate of appreciation, and Rs. 10 lakh. Nearly 900 profiles were screened before selecting seven individuals for the national-level awards.
  • The Chief Guest at the function was the Vice President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan. The other dignitaries who attended included the Governor of Telangana Jishnu Dev Verma, Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu, Union Ministers Kishan Reddy, Rammohan Naidu, former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, and former Chief Justice N.V. Ramana.
  • A written message from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also shared.
  • Ramoji Group CMD C.H. Kiran said that the awards would be given every year to recognize Ramoji Rao’s dedication to public service and professional excellence.

Presentation of Awards and Program Highlights

  • Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan presented awards to Srikanth Bolla and Amala Ashok Ruia. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma honoured Prof. Gali Madhavilatha, while Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy presented awards to Akash Tandon and Sathupati Prasannasri. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu presented awards to Jayadeep Hardikar and Pallavi Ghosh.
  • The Ramoji English–Telugu and Telugu–Telugu dictionaries put together by Ramoji Foundation were launched by former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and former Chief Justice N.V. Ramana.
  • A video presentation, prepared through artificial intelligence, on the important events in Ramoji Rao’s life was screened. Cultural performances were also staged, including a special song by the Keeravani group, with lyrics highlighting Ramoji Rao’s contributions. There was a dance performance presenting the cultural heritage of different States.
  • Srikanth Bolla went back to the stage again after receiving his award and was congratulated with a warm reception by both Chief Ministers.

Profiles of the Awardees

Prof. Gali Madhavilatha

She is a professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. The Chenab Bridge in Kashmir, one of the highest railway bridges in the world, was designed by her.

Amala Ashok Ruia

She facilitated water conservation by constructing ponds and check dams to improve the lives of 18 lakh rural residents in the drought-prone areas.

Akash Tandon

He founded Pehchan schools with the aim of providing education to children living in slum areas.

Srikanth Bolla

An entrepreneur who overcame disability to build successful ventures through his work and determination, eventually becoming a youth icon.

Sathupati Prasannasri

She works on the preservation of tribal languages and supports initiatives that empower women.

Jayadeep Hardikar

An independent journalist investigating landless farmers' issues, farmer suicides, and migration problems.

Pallavi Ghosh

She has worked extensively to combat human trafficking and support affected individuals.
