Strict Rules For Online Content Regulation

YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks about the 'India's Got Latent' (IGL) program have sparked controversy. The Central Government has taken this matter seriously and emphasized the necessity for OTT platforms and social media to adhere to the Code of Ethics under the IT Rules (2021).

The government believes that stricter regulations are required for online content monitoring. It is currently evaluating potential amendments to existing laws to enhance content control. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has acknowledged growing concerns regarding objectionable online content and has responded to a letter from Nishikant Dubey, Chairman of the Standing Committee, addressing this issue.
