Dhoni, however, did not confirm his retirement after the match. Fans breathed a sigh of relief. CSK beat Gujarat by 83 runs.

Post the game, Dhoni spoke about the retirement gossip. He said he would need 4-5 months to make a decision on his future in the IPL. He said he was away from home for some time and now wanted to go back to Ranchi to enjoy some time with his family. He underlined that there was no hurry for the decision.

Dhoni emphasized the significance of performance and fitness in professional cricket. He stated that remaining in the game hinges on being fit and playing well. As per him, certain players retire at 22 if they fail to perform.
