There was a high level of speculation that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni would retire from the IPL following the last league match of his team against Gujarat in IPL 2025. Dhoni, however, did not confirm his retirement after the match. Fans breathed a sigh of relief. CSK beat Gujarat by 83 runs.
Dhoni Asserts He Requires Time Before Making Decision
Post the game, Dhoni spoke about the retirement gossip. He said he would need 4-5 months to make a decision on his future in the IPL. He said he was away from home for some time and now wanted to go back to Ranchi to enjoy some time with his family. He underlined that there was no hurry for the decision.

Dhoni emphasized the significance of performance and fitness in professional cricket. He stated that remaining in the game hinges on being fit and playing well. As per him, certain players retire at 22 if they fail to perform.

Dhoni maintained he was not announcing his retirement from the IPL, but neither did he confirm a comeback. He stated he had to give it some thought. He assured that Ruturaj Gaikwad should not worry about the forthcoming season since the team had addressed several issues to cater for young players.
