Russia's Major Airstrike Escalates Conflict
Russia carried out a massive airstrike against Ukraine during the time when ceasefire negotiations were taking place. The attack escalated the already deteriorating relations between Russia and Ukraine. The airstrike was conducted in various parts of the country, including the capital, Kyiv. Ukrainian officials described it as the biggest strike in the three-year war, with 367 missiles and drones launched. Twelve individuals lost their lives as a result.
Trump's Reaction to Russia's Move
Former American President Donald Trump was very upset with Russia's actions. He condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin on Truth Social. Trump said that Putin was behaving foolishly and resorting to unnecessary brutality. He said that not only the military, but also innocent civilians were being attacked without a clear motivation.
I have a good rapport with Putin, but I don't see his recent moves. He is acting like a madman. They are bombing Ukrainian cities with missiles and drones. These attacks aren't confined to disputed areas but to dominate the entire country. That mentality will only result in Russia's fall," Trump wrote.
Zelensky's Criticism
Trump also spoke about the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He said that public statements by Zelensky were worsening the situation.
"Zelensky's words are causing more trouble. This strategy has to end. If I were President three years ago, this war would not have begun. I am doing what I can to de-escalate the increasing tensions brought about by bad leadership and hatred," Trump declared.
Aftermath of the Attack
Sunday’s attack by Russia marked a major escalation in the war. Ukrainian President Zelensky accused the U.S. of staying silent. He said this silence could encourage further aggression from Putin.
