
Stampede Occurs Due to Huge Crowd in RCB Celebrations
Karnataka Home Minister G. Parmeshwara stated that approximately 8 lakh people turned up for the RCB celebration victory. He stated that the large crowd caught everyone off guard, resulting in the stampede.
Early Estimates of Crowd Were Short
The officials had anticipated around 1 lakh persons in the vicinity of Vidhan Soudha and 25,000 in the vicinity of Chinnaswamy Stadium. But over 2.5 lakh turned up. Ticket sales for the metro on the day exceeded 8.70 lakh. Going by this, the minister estimated the crowd to be around 8 lakh.
Event Sets Unusual Attendance Record
By Parmeshwara, the biggest crowd ever to witness a cricket celebration in Karnataka. The event would have been a record assembly had it not been for the stampede, he added.
Minister Sees the Situation and Meets the Officials
The minister went to the site of the incident and met with officials in order to get complete information. He reiterated that the focus now is to avoid such incidents in the future. He mentioned, "We still do not know how many people died at the gates."
Victims Included a Young Girl
The victims were below the age of 40, and among them was a 13-year-old girl. The RCB team members had come back to Karnataka and were first greeted at Vidhana Soudha, and an event was also conducted at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Crowd Size Overwhelms Security
The stadium’s maximum capacity is 35,000, but a much larger crowd had assembled. Rain added to the situation. The stampede happened around 4 PM at the back gate of the stadium.

In the hours following the event, scattered slippers, phones, and bags showed how severe the accident was.
