
India's Vision for Global Peace
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India favors a peaceful, multipolar world. He did so before the 17th BRICS summit, which is scheduled to be held in Brazil on the 6th and 7th of this month. Modi reiterated his intention to strengthen cooperation among BRICS member states.
India's Role in BRICS
India, being an original member, will contribute to the consolidation of the BRICS grouping. Modi assured that he will do everything in his power to enhance relations within the group. He intends to bring up bilateral matters in sessions with several world leaders at the Rio de Janeiro summit.
Important Discussions with Brazil
Modi will have a significant meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. They will discuss how to promote the development of emerging economies. This is one of the activities planned during the BRICS summit.
Visit to Ghana
Modi started a five-country tour by leaving Delhi on Wednesday morning. His first destination was Accra, the capital city of Ghana. He was greeted personally at the airport by President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama. It was the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in more than 30 years.
Bilateral Agreements with Ghana
Modi and President Mahama met for formal talks. After the meeting, both countries signed four cooperation agreements. Modi stated that India and Ghana agreed to expand their partnership in various sectors.
Next Stops in the Tour
After completing his visit to Ghana, Modi will head to Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday. His tour also includes Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia.
