Republicans Face Defeat In U.S. Local Elections, Trump Reacts

Democrats win key races in several states

The Republican Party was defeated in the recent U.S. local elections. Democrats won several states, including the highly important New York mayoral race. Former President Donald Trump, in a post, reacted to these results and hinted that this happened because his name wasn't on the ballot.

Trump's Statement on Election Results

In a post on his Truth Social account, he said two elements led to the Republican defeat: his absence from the ticket and the still-ongoing federal government shutdown, which has extended beyond one month. Trump referred to what some pollsters had said to that effect. His post quickly went viral on social media.

Allegations of Voting Irregularities in California

Trump also expressed his concern with the election process in California. He said, “unconstitutional remapping” had taken place, and it was a big scam. For him, there were problems in the processing of votes, including the ignored mail-ins. He called it “very serious.”

Democrats Consolidate Their Position in Key States

In New York, Democrat Zohran Mamdani of Indian origin won the mayoral race, while in New Jersey, Democrat Mikey Sherrill became the governor in what was a third consecutive Democratic governorship since the 1960s. In Virginia, too, Democrat Abigail Spanberger secured victory as the party continued its success in this election cycle.
