South Africa made a strong total
South Africa reached 213/4 in the second T20. Quinton de Kock made a big contribution. De Kock made 90 runs from 46 deliveries with five fours and seven sixes. Quinton de Kock looked very comfortable against all Indian bowlers. Arshdeep and Bumrah have given a large number of runs. Varun Chakravarthy bowled well and took 2 wickets giving away 29.
South Africa reached 53/1 at the end of the power play. De Kock continued to sail. He reached his fifty in 26 balls. Markram added 29 runs to the tally. South Africa reached 150 in the 15th over. De Kock was looking set to get a century but then he and Miller were sent back by Jitesh Sharma. India restricted South Africa with some tight overs by Varun and Axar. However, Ferreira and Miller added 49 more runs to the tally with some great cricket in the last three overs.
India Struggle in the Chase
India required a good start but suffered early dismissals. The Indian team reached 32/3. Shubhman Gill was bowled out for duck in the very first over. Suryakumar Yadav again had a disappointing day and could manage only 5. Abhishek Sharma added 17.
Tilak Verma structured the innings. Tilak Verma made 62 off 34 with two fours and five sixes. Axar Patel, who batted higher up in the order, made 21 but failed to accelerate. Hardik Pandya made 20 but failed to accelerate. The required rate of run mongering rose sharply. India were 118/5 in the 15th over and required 91 runs from the remaining five overs. Tilak and Jitesh Sharma (27 off 17) launched some attacking strokes. Yet again, India collapsefed from 157/5 to 162 all out. Tilak Verma was the last man out.
Arshdeep Singh Faces a Rough Patch
Arshdeep Singh took 54 runs in four overs. Arshdeep bowled a total of nine wides, with seven fours being hit off the 11th over. His economy rate of 13.50 was the worst among all bowlers.
