European Nations Restrict Airspace Use In US–Iran Conflict

Italy has restricted its military aid to the United States

Italy has decided to stop the United States from using its airspace during the present Iran conflict according to recent news reports.

U.S. aircraft which participate in the conflict will not receive permission to operate from Italy's main airbase in Sicily according to international and local media reports. The United States had earlier requested permission to deploy bomber aircraft at this location before sending them to West Asia. The Italian government showed its careful approach when it decided to handle this situation.

Spain Announces Similar Restrictions

Spain has adopted the same position which Spain has maintained. Defense Minister Margarita Robles announced that Spain will stop all aircraft operations which connect to the Iran conflict from passing through its airspace.

European Position on the Conflict

European Union member states display a strong unwillingness to engage in military operations against Iran. Their current stance focuses on avoiding escalation and limiting involvement in the conflict.
