IndiGo Appoints William Walsh As New CEO
  • IndiGo has introduced new leadership personnel. William Walsh who previously led British Airways became the new Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo after Pieter Elbers resigned from his position. 
  • Walsh currently serves as the Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). His term at IATA will end on July 31. He will assume his position at IndiGo on August 3.

  • IndiGo encountered operational difficulties during the previous months. The airline experienced extensive flight cancellations during December. These cancellations caused inconvenience to many passengers.
  • Pieter Elbers decided to resign from his position during the ongoing challenges. He resigned from his position 18 months before he planned to leave. This created the need for new leadership.

  • William Walsh expressed his satisfaction about joining IndiGo. He described the airline as an organization with strong fundamentals.
