Russia Plans To Increase Crude Oil And LNG Supply To India

Energy Talks Between India and Russia

Russia has proposed an increase in the supply of crude oil and natural gas to India. The announcement occurs when tensions in West Asia are increasing.

Senior officials from both countries held discussions on energy cooperation. The meeting included:

  • National Security Advisor Ajit Doval
  • External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar
  • Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov

Manturov also met:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi
  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman

Russia guaranteed India higher crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies during their meetings. The two countries established an agreement to enhance their diplomatic relationship.

Global Supply Concerns and Strategic Response

The global oil and gas supply system faces critical problems because Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. This route is critical for global energy transport.

A Russian delegation traveled to India in this situation. The delegation discussed three important topics with Indian leaders:

  • Energy cooperation
  • Fertilizer supply
  • Trade relations

India’s Ministry of External Affairs reported that both countries assessed the implementation of last year signed agreements.
