Record Increase in Prize Pool
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a higher prize fund for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup. The total prize pool now stands at $8,764,615 (around ₹81 crore). The current amount shows a 10 percent increase over the 2024 edition which had a total prize fund of $7,958,077 (over ₹70 crore).
Prize Distribution Structure
The ICC established specific awards which teams receive after each tournament match:
- Winning team: ₹21.8 crore
- Runner-up: ₹10 crore
- Semi-finalists: ₹6 crore each
The system grants increased rewards to teams when they advance to subsequent tournament stages.
Group Stage and Participation Rewards
Teams also receive payments during the early stages:
- Each group stage win earns ₹29 lakh
- Every participating team receives a minimum of ₹2.3 crore
The payments function to assist all teams regardless of their finishing standings.
Tournament Overview
The 2026 Women's T20 World Cup will feature 12 participating teams. The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 12.
The ICC increased prize money because it wants to develop women's cricket through better financial assistance which will help players and teams.
