Prime Minister Calls for Firm Action Against Terrorism in the Wake of Pahalgam Terror Attack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a joint press conference with Angolan President Joao Lourenço, strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, recently. Modi further underlined his stance against terrorism as the most significant danger to people and assured the unwavering resolve of India not to allow it to be its fate.
While conversing with Angola at a bilateral meeting, Modi mentioned that India was grateful for the latter's diplomatic support during the time of cross-border terrorism. Reiterating India's national position, he reaffirmed that the culprits behind the gruesome act in Pahalgam will get severe and irreparable punishment.
Modi Thanks Angola for Diplomatic Support in Time of National Mourning
In a statement by the Indian Prime Minister, Modi greeted Angola for their backing in the fight against terrorism in India. He underlined the importance of global solidarity to counter threats beyond national boundaries. Modi reaffirmed that support from global allies like Angola gives additional strength to India's resolve to retaliate against terror threats.
He said India is still firm in acting strongly against terrorists, directly or indirectly. The Prime Minister reiterated that any organization which patronizes, finances, and aids terror operations will be dealt with equally firmly under India's counter-terrorism policy.
Details of Pahalgam Attack Emerge as National Outrage Grows
On April 22, gun-wielding militants launched merciless attacks at Baisaran, one of the famous hill resorts of Pahalgam, in Anantnag district. Official reports reveal that the militants had encircled a group of tourists and opened fire from close quarters, resulting in collective casualties. 25 tourists and a young Kashmiri resident were among those killed.
The attack has sparked international outrage and fresh calls for greater security for conflict areas. The government has since deepened its investigation, describing the attack as a well-coordinated act of terrorism intended to undermine peace within the region.
Modi Redoubles Threat to Culprits in Recent Speech
Earlier in the week, in a public speech in Bihar, Prime Minister Modi once more referred to the Pahalgam attack, vowing to give a firm message to the perpetrators. He asserted that whoever was involved in planning or carrying out the attack would be brought to book and punished in a way that would act as a deterrent.
They were expressed in a tone of finality, with no ambiguity regarding India's policy on terrorism. The citizens were assured by Modi that justice would not be delayed and reaffirmed the government's willingness to act with speed and no compromise.
Government Steps Up Security Operations in Hit Areas
Following the attack on Pahalgam, the central government launched a series of counter-insurgency and intelligence campaigns in sensitive areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Security personnel have heightened vigilance, conducted targeted search operations, and bolstered troop deployment to avert further attacks.
Agencies have largely confirmed multiple agencies are coordinating efforts to "pursue the source of the attackers and break down whatever networks supported the attack". Preventive measures and quick retaliation are at the forefront to ensure national security and restore public confidence.
India's Global Call for United Action Against Terrorism
The Prime Minister took full advantage of the moment to again resubmit India's enduring call for the world's united action against terrorism. He insisted that the international community cannot remain mute in the face of such inhuman extremism, particularly when it is done against innocent citizens.
By coordinating diplomatic interactions with security interaction, Modi had hinted at the prospects of strengthening global cooperation to fight counter-terrorism on behalf of India. Angola's overt political support was posited as the benchmark of what Indian support receives from other states.
