High Alert Issued Following Intelligence Reveals Breakout Plot
Security at major detention centers in Jammu and Kashmir has been stepped up after credible intelligence inputs regarding an alleged attempt to engineer a breakthrough for high-risk prisoners from prison. The alert covers Srinagar Central Jail, Kot Balwal Jail, and other detention centers in the Jammu region, to which the police have deployed extra men and surveillance systems.
The danger seems associated with an on-going probe of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Suspects believed to have been working as sleeper cells and overground workers have been arrested and are presently being kept in these centers. Security agencies now concentrate efforts on thwarting any concerted efforts to free these operatives.
National Agencies Investigate Terror Links and Jail Threats
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified investigations into the group responsible for recent militant activities. Nissar and Mushtaq, who are charged in a case of an attack on an Indian Army vehicle, are among those being interrogated. The investigation has yielded actionable intelligence that points to a potential organized attack on detention centers to release arrested militants.
In reply, high-ranking Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials have made on-ground assessments and strategy meetings in Srinagar. The CISF has been managing prison security within the union territory since 2023, which has become increasingly important under present circumstances.
Discovery of Militant Camp Adds to Security Concerns
Adding to the escalation, security personnel have unearthed a suspected militant training camp in Poonch district. The site, located close to the Suran Kot area, yielded five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and sophisticated communication equipment. The discovery highlights the well-organized nature of the current militant activities in the area.
Investigating agencies are now probing connections between this camp and the conspiracy against detention centers. Authorities are still on alert as anti-terror operations become more vigorous across Jammu and Kashmir.
