
Inspection Held on Construction Work in Progress
An international expert team came to the site of the Polavaram project to inspect construction work in progress. They have come with the motive of checking progress and providing suitable suggestions to both the Water Resources Department and the construction companies.
Senior Experts and Officials Attend
The inspection team comprised international experts such as Richard Donnelly, Sean Hinch Berger, Gianfranco De Cicco, and David B. Paul. A thorough review of the construction was done by them. They were accompanied by Member Secretary of the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) M. Raghuram and officials from the Central Water Commission such as Sarabjit Singh Bhakshi, Rakesh, Ashwani Kumar Verma, Gaurav Tiwari, and Hemant Gautam. Also present were representatives of CSMRS Manish Gupta and Lalit Kumar Solanki.
Project Briefings Given by Local Governments
Project CEO K. Narasimha Murthy and MEIL's Chief Operating Officer Satish Babu gave project briefings. They gave the updates on work in progress. The expert team specifically inspected the diaphragm wall and analyzed the strength of the upper coffer dam.
AP Government Reactions to Krishna River Management Board
The Andhra Pradesh government has sent a letter to the Krishna River Management Board, stating that it will not be in a position to attend the three-member panel's meeting that had been scheduled. The state quoted the inspection being carried out at the Polavaram project as the reason.
Request to Reschedule and Relocate Meetings
The state's Engineering-in-Chief, in the letter, asked the committee meeting to be delayed after the 10th of this month. It also suggested that all subsequent meetings of the Krishna Board be held at Vijayawada.
