Alcatraz Opens as per an Order of President
The former President Donald Trump tweeted where he has announced that he is re-opening America's safest prison, Alcatraz, which has been closed for 60 years ago. He tweeted it on his social networking site, Truth Social.
It is located on a desolate island
Alcatraz is situated on an island off the California coast. Geology by itself makes it virtually impossible to escape to the United States mainland. The island itself is surrounded by icy Pacific waters and strong ocean currents.
In his speech, Trump stated that the country is suffering from repeated offenses by dangerous criminals. He declared that the government used to send such criminals to far-flung prisons away from residential areas. In his opinion, harsh punishments should return. For making it happen, he has directed the Department of Prisons, Department of Justice, FBI, and Department of Homeland Security to reopen and reopen Alcatraz.
History of Alcatraz Prison
Alcatraz was also referred to as "The Rock," and it accommodated such infamous criminals like Al Capone and George "Machine Gun" Kelly. The prison functioned for 29 years. In 29 years, 36 prisoners attempted to escape by 14 means. The authorities caught them all. Due to the costly maintenance fee, the prison closed down in 1963.
Present-Day Alcatraz
Today, the Alcatraz Island is used as a tourist attraction. The location can be toured and its history will be realized. If the island is re-opened, it will again become a high-security prison facility.
