Hyderabad will be the venue for the 72nd Miss World beauty pageant, and it is the first time that this international pageant will be organized in Telangana. The pageant, from May 7 to May 31, 2025, will also center on showcasing the cultural heritage as well as tourism potential of the state. The opening ceremony will take place on May 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.
Cultural Showcase and Opening Ceremony
The event will start with the state song, 'Jaya Jaya He Telangana,' and formal inauguration by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The showstopper is the dance recitation of Perini Nritya by 250 performers from Kosgi and Warangal districts, a rich cultural expression of Telangana. Gussadi, Oggudolu, and Kolatum folk arts will be staged. Miss World contestants from over 109 nations have also descended on Hyderabad to be a part of the festivities.
Encouraging Cultural Heritage and Tourism Tours
With the pageant's theme 'Telangana Zaroor Aana' (Must Visit Telangana), the state government is employing the pageant as a promotional tool for tourism. Following the inaugural ceremony, the contestants will tour some of the state's historical and cultural sites, such as the Charminar, Laad Bazaar, Thousand Pillar Temple at Warangal, Ramappa Temple, Yadagirigutta, Pochampally, and Mahabubnagar. The tours aim to provide Telangana's heritage and crafts global exposure.
Security Precautions Following Regional Tensions
Following increased tensions between India and Pakistan, the Telangana state government, in cooperation with the central governments, has made strong security arrangements to ensure the safety of participants and tourists. These include increased security at vulnerable areas and tourist spots, and standby arrangements to prevent potential disruptions.
