Pakistan MP Slams Prime Minister For Inaction Following India's Operation Sindoor

Background on India's Operation Sindoor

India initiated "Operation Sindoor" as a retaliatory measure after a terror attack in Pahalgam. Under the operation, Indian troops targeted and destroyed terror camps along the border in Pakistan. They also destroyed sections of Pakistan's air defense systems in this operation.

Pakistan's Response and Attempted Counterattacks

Pakistan retaliated with a counterattack late Thursday. The effort was through drone activity in border areas in Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. Indian forces foiled these attempts and were able to shoot down around 50 drones in zones such as Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot.

Severe Retaliation from Pakistani MP Shahid Ahmed

Pakistani Parliamentarian Shahid Ahmed of the PTI party severely criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a parliamentary session. He said:

  • The Prime Minister has kept quiet over India's actions.
  • He blamed the PM for not having the guts to confront Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi head-on.
  • He referred to Tipu Sultan's maxim to bring out leadership issues, equating poor leadership with weak command in war.
  • He asked how Pakistani troops can be expected to react if the leadership of the country hesitates.

Public and Political Discontent in Pakistan

After India's aggressive military actions, some political figures and citizens of Pakistan have expressed discontent with their government's response to the situation. Many feel that a stronger response should be adopted by leadership.
