
US President Confirms Ceasefire Between India and Pakistan
President of the United States, Donald Trump has come forward and unveiled peace talks between India and Pakistan. According to him, the US was involved in brokering the deal. He posted the information on his Twitter handle on Saturday night.
Trump posted that long deliberations were engaged in overnight involving the US. He affirmed both nations agreed on an immediate ceasefire. He welcomed India and Pakistan for taking the right decision at the right time.
India and Pakistan Release Independent Confirmations
India and Pakistan issued independent affirmations of the ceasefire. They did not provide additional information about the deliberations.
Secretary of State Also Confirms Ceasefire Talks
It was followed closely by a similar statement from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio shortly after Trump's tweet. Rubio officially announced that a ceasefire agreement had been signed.
Rubio briefed that he had spoken with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Moreover, he was engaged in a conversation with the Indian Foreign Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Pakistan's Chief of Army General Asim Munir.
He said that he also talked to both National Security Advisors, India's Ajit Doval and Pakistan's Asim Malik. He mentioned further that he was also involved in the peace talks; he was with the US Vice President JD Vance.
