IPL to Resume from May 17 at Six Venues
The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced that the 2025 Indian Premier League season will resume on May 17, 2025. The initial post-ponement had been a result of the escalated situation between the two neighboring countries. However, the fixtures will take place in six cities now: Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Delhi, Jaipur, as well as Bengaluru.
The final game is on June 3. The venues of the play-offs will be divulged by the BCCI in the upcoming days.
Punjab vs Delhi Match Restart Decision
The Kings of Punjab (PBKS) versus Delhi Capitals (DC) afternoon match was scheduled for May 8 in Dharamsala. Nevertheless, it was terminated after 10.1 overs because of security issues when Punjab's visit to the crease was happening at that time. Punjab had scored 122 runs for one wicket at that time.
Normally, if a match is called off, both teams receive one point each. But in this case, no points were awarded, leading to fans' confusion.
Match Postponed Until May 24 in Jaipur
The BCCI has moved the match to a later date on the new schedule. The game will commence afresh on May 24 in Jaipur. The initial 10.1 overs of the Dharamsala match will not be counted. This is a boon for Punjab, as they were well-positioned in the first attempt.
Punjab has thus far competed in 11 matches and won 15 points. They simply require one more win out of the three remaining games to earn a place in the play-offs.
Play-offs and Final Schedule
- Qualifier 1: May 29
- Eliminator: May 30
- Qualifier 2: June 1
- Final: June 3
The places where these matches will take place are still not determined. The final is likely to be hosted in Ahmedabad, and some of the play-off games may be organized in Mumbai.
