Tourist Cancellations Surge For Turkey And Azerbaijan Due To Boycott Sentiment

Travel Agencies Record Fall in Bookings and Rise in Cancellations

Most Indian tourists are boycotting Turkey and Azerbaijan. This was a reply that agreed with their pro-Pakistan stand during Operation Sindoor. Some Indian travel agencies have suspended online bookings to both nations.

MakeMyTrip says that reservations in Azerbaijan and Turkey went down by 60% last week. Cancellation rates, on the other hand, went up by 250% versus the same period last year.

A spokesperson from the company clarified:

"Tourists are not opting to travel to Turkey or Azerbaijan. This goes with national mood and respect for the Indian Armed Forces. Currently, we are advising only necessary travel."

EaseMyTrip Confirm Similar Trends

EaseMyTrip, another big travel agency, vindicated this trend. In the last week, 22% of Turkey trips and 30% of Azerbaijan trips were cancelled. They said they are not promoting cancellations, but the majority of the people have decided against going to these destinations.
