PBKS Vs DC Match Stopped In Dharamsala Due To Security Concerns: Alyssa Healy

IPL Match Suspended Surprisingly

Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) IPL match in Dharamsala on May 8 was suspended. The reason initially seemed to be technical issues with the floodlights. It was later found that the match was suspended and the stadium evacuated for security reasons following Pakistani drone strikes on nearby border regions. No other reason could be found except security concerns.

Australian Cricketer Alyssa Healy Describes First-Hand Account

Australian women's cricket team captain Alyssa Healy and Mitchell Starc's wife, who was one of the fans, saw the incident happen. She attended the match as part of Delhi Capitals' contingent, which included families of players and support staff. She described what occurred in an interview conducted as a podcast.

Things that occurred inside the Stadium

They initially lost two floodlights, Healy explained. While waiting for the game to resume, people around them started talking about evacuation. Then a stadium official asked their team to leave the grounds. They did pause at first, thinking all was well.

Soon, there was even more commotion and rushing around. One of the staff members picked a child from their group immediately and sent them away at once. Players began to arrive, with most of them looking concerned. Faf du Plessis even left without shoes.

Electricity Cutoff and Instant Departure

Healy stated that when she questioned Mitchell Starc, he informed her that they had an attack 60 kilometers away. Thus, the power went off in that area and the stadium lights went dark. They then departed quickly in vans and returned to their hotel later.
