
Time Magazine Lists Influential Philanthropists
Time magazine published their 2025 list featuring the 100 most influential personalities in philanthropy. The inventory comprises Indian industrialists Mukesh and Nita Ambani, former Wipro chairman Azim Premji, and Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamat. These people have made it a habit to donate money to many social causes and also to give them constant support and thus become recognized as individuals having significant charitable contributions.
Ambani Family's Charitable Efforts
In 2024, Mukesh and Nita Ambani donated ₹407 crore (USD 48 million). Their total business empire is estimated to be worth USD 110 billion. Nita Ambani, who is the founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, leads several social development initiatives through the foundation.
Azim Premji's Longstanding Contributions
Azim Premji is one of the biggest names in Indian philanthropy. Being the first Indian signatory of the Giving Pledge in 2013 has been one of his famous achievements. With the founding of his trust fund a quarter of a century ago, he gave the Wipro shares valuing USD 29 billion at that time. In the fiscal year 2023-24, he extended USD 109 million as a gift (approximately ₹950 crore) to the organizations in the fields of education, health care, and others. The number of those organizations was 940.
Youngest Indian on the Giving Pledge
Nikhil Kamat, the co-founder of Zerodha, joined the Giving Pledge in 2023 at the age of 36. He is the youngest Indian to sign the pledge. His donations focus on education and environmental projects, where he has already committed a large amount of funds.

The list also includes several well-known global figures such as David Beckham, Warren Buffett, Melinda Gates, Prince William, and Catherine, Princess of Wales.
