Ongoing Investigation in Jyoti Malhotra's Case
Haryana Police are investigating Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber and travel blogger arrested for alleged interaction with Pakistani intelligence. Authorities attested to her knowingly being in touch with individuals affiliated with Pakistan's intelligence agency. But no indications of having a link with terrorist organizations were found.
No Evidence of Terror Involvement or Religious Conversion
Police explained that Jyoti Malhotra never came into contact with any terrorists. The police also discovered no evidence that she intended to participate in terrorist operations, get married to any intelligence personnel, or convert to Islam. Jyoti, said Hissar SP, had no knowledge of any military details about India's defence forces. Even though she talked to people with links to the intelligence, she did not have any information on the military.
Diary Reports Unconfirmed; Devices Under Review
The SP addressed media claims regarding Jyoti’s diary. He stated that no such diary was found or seized. Police have only taken three mobile phones, one laptop, and some electronic devices. These items are now under forensic examination. Central agencies like the Intelligence Bureau and NIA have also questioned her. She remains in Haryana Police custody and has not been transferred to any other agency.
Background: Pakistan Trip and Danish Connection
Jyoti Malhotra owns the YouTube channel Travel With Jo. During her 2023 Pakistan trip, she met Danish, who was working at the Pakistani High Commission. She was later in contact with Pakistan's intelligence agency. The investigation connects her arrest to discussions during an operation called Operation Sindoor.
