Hisar Court Extends Four More Days of Remand
A district court in Hisar has granted four more days of remand for 33-year-old YouTuber Jyothi Malhotra. Malhotra had previously confessed to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that she had interacted with Pakistani intelligence officials.
The court made this move after examining the application of police, who had already questioned Malhotra for five days and asserted they had gained huge pieces of information. She was produced in court on Wednesday, which brought her earlier custody period to an end.
Financial Sources Under Scrutiny
Agencies are currently investigating the sponsorship of Malhotra's foreign trips. A UAE-based tour agency, 'Wego,' paid for some of her trips, as per reports. One such trip was to the Konark Temple in Odisha with fellow YouTuber Priyanka, it was ascertained by Sarthak Shadangi, IG of Puri Crime Branch.
No Terrorist Links Found, Say Police
There is no evidence linking Malhotra to any terrorist activity or group, according to the Hisar Superintendent of Police. There has been nothing found by the police that would indicate plans to wed a Pakistani official or become a Muslim.
Even though she has been in regular contact with people associated with Pakistani intelligence, officials claim that she seems to possess no sensitive information about Indian defense strategies. Malhotra is said to be dating Ehsan Ur Rahim, alias Danish, who is employed by the Pakistani High Commission in India.
Equipment Taken for Investigation
Police have seized three mobile phones, a laptop, and other electronic devices of Malhotra. All these items have been sent to a forensic lab for further tests. The officials from NIA, Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Military Intelligence have participated in her interrogation.
