Operation Sindoor: Clear Response to Terroristic Threats
Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that Operation Sindoor, conducted by the Indian Army, was a stern reply to terrorist activities in Pakistan. He added that the operation comprised swift attacks on terror camps, targeting the individuals behind the Pahalgam attacks. These attacks, as per Shah, went beyond all limits. In attacking these camps, Shah averred, India revealed Pakistan's continued nurturing of terrorism. He further noted that global observers have recognized and lauded India's move.
Operation Success Underpinned by Coordination and Intelligence
Shah attributed the success of Operation Sindoor to three key reasons:
- Strong political leadership by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
- Proper intelligence passed on by national agencies
- Coordination of efforts by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force
He also spoke about the contribution of the Border Security Force (BSF) during missile attacks from Pakistan. In his view, BSF had an important role in guarding the borders of India, including that with Bangladesh.
Long-Term Challenge of Terrorism and India's Response
Shah blamed decades of terrorism on policy mistakes made by Pakistan. He mentioned that since Modi became Prime Minister, India has responded more firmly to such threats. Referring to the Pahalgam incident, Shah expressed concern that attackers targeted tourists based on their religion.
Results of Operation Sindoor
Nine terror camps were destroyed by the Indian Army during the operation. Two of them were central coordination centers for terrorist operations. Shah explained that no Pakistani civilian or military installations were targeted. He noted that in spite of that, the Pakistan Army exhibited solidarity with terrorist organizations by attending their funerals. He is of the opinion that this has made it evident to the global community who is backing terrorism.
Commemorating Sacrifices Made in the Name of National Security
Shah ended by paying tribute to the over 2,000 BSF personnel who have lost their lives defending India since 1965. He said such sacrifices prove that terrorism remains a persistent threat and India's resolve for national security.
