Operation Sindoor Opposition and Vote Bank Politics
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of being against Operation Sindoor and Waqf Amendment Act. She does it for Muslim voters' sake, he claimed. Communal violence in Murshidabad was state government-backed, he said. Senior Trinamool Congress leaders were also involved in the riots, Shah claimed.
Shah condemned the West Bengal government's move to bar the deployment of Border Security Force (BSF) during the riots. According to him, BSF could have avoided the injury of the Hindu community.
Cultural Sentiments and Sindoor Significance
Speaking in Kolkata, Shah said Mamata Banerjee disrespected women by opposing Operation Sindoor. He added that sindoor has a very deep cultural significance for several women and girls in India. He added that these kinds of actions pained their hearts.
He had forecast that during the 2026 Assembly Elections, the women of the state would react powerfully to this cause. Shah asked BJP workers to remain united and focus on targeting the ruling party during future polls, particularly on issues of national security.
Border Problems and Infiltration Allegations
Amit Shah blamed Mamata Banerjee for permitting illegal migration from Bangladesh. He alleged that she denied permission for land acquisition for deploying BSF, which would prevent infiltration. In his view, the Trinamool Congress continues to rule by promoting illegal migration into the state.
He also added that Bengal has become insecure under her leadership, referring to problems of crime, corruption, rape, and political violence. He also claimed that hundreds of BJP workers have been murdered in her rule.
Investment in Forensic Infrastructure
Shah also made a significant announcement of upgrading forensic strength in the country. The Centre would be investing ₹2,800 crore to upgrade forensic labs and construct required infrastructure.
He commissioned a new Central Forensic Science Laboratory, close to Kolkata. He added that better forensic facilities would facilitate quicker justice and save innocent citizens from being wrongly accused. Reforms in penal laws are intended to streamline the legal process and ensure justice.
