Modi Shares Message and Photos

On social media site X, PM Modi uploaded pictures of the event. He also wrote a message. He wrote that he had met these women during his recent Gujarat visit. They presented him the sindoor sapling as a mark of respect and courage.

He stated, "The sisters and mothers of Kutch were courageous during the war against Pakistan. They presented me with this sapling when I was in Gujarat. I planted it on Environment Day. I am proud to have been given this chance. This sapling is a symbol of the courage, strength, and mettle of Indian women."

Historical Significance of 'Sindoor'

The sindoor sapling carries a historical connection. Women were attacked by terrorists in Pahalgam and their vermilion (sindoor) was wiped off their foreheads. India had conducted Operation Sindoor against Pakistan in retaliation.

As a reminder of the same and to mark women's courage, the women who fought in the 1971 war gifted the plant to the Prime Minister. The images of PM Modi planting the sapling went viral on social media.
