China Grants 240-Hour Visa-Free Stay To 55 Countries

New Policy to Increase Tourism

China has endorsed a new visa-free policy for tourists from 55 nations. Travelers can now reside in China for 240 hours visa-free. This is being done to enhance tourism.

Eligible Countries and Rollout

Indonesia, Russia, and the United Kingdom are among the eligible countries. The policy will go into effect from Thursday, Xinhua News Agency reports.

Entry Conditions and Requirements

To be eligible for the visa-free stay:

  • Travelers need interline flight tickets to a third nation.
  • Flight tickets should have confirmed dates of departure.
  • International travel documents are necessary.

Where Travelers Can Enter

Tourists can enter through 60 ports of approval in 24 provinces. Major cities such as Beijing and Shanghai are included.

Travelers are allowed to:

  • Visit tourist attractions
  • Visit family and friends
  • Engage in short-term visits

Prohibition of Certain Activities

Activities like:

  • Studying
  • Working
  • Reporting news

need a proper visa and advance clearance.
