PM Modi Visits Scene Of Air India Flight Crash

Dramatic Crash in Ahmedabad

An Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London crashed just minutes after takeoff on Thursday. There were 265 individuals aboard. Of them, 241 crew members and passengers perished. One survived the crash.

Prime Minister Modi at Crash Site

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Ahmedabad today. He visited the site of the crash to assess the situation. He met with officials and requested a detailed report on the matter.

Visit to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital

PM Modi subsequently went to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. He interacted with the injured victims and delivered words of morale boost. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, and State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi joined him.

Air India Leadership and International Involvement

Air India MD and CEO Campbell Wilson also went to the crash site. He then visited the hospital to inquire about the injured. British High Commission staff arrived in Ahmedabad to help with the crisis.

Casualties and Rescue Operations

Rescue efforts continue at the site. Bodies are recovered from the wreckage. The plane has crashed into the BJ Medical College Medico hostel complex where 24 lives were lost.

Breakdown of Passengers

There were 242 individuals aboard the plane. Among them, there were 169 Indian nationals. Fifty-three persons were British or foreigners. There was also BJP leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani among the victims.
