Akhilesh Announces Alliance Participation in 2027
According to Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday, his party remains in the India alliance. He assured that the alliance has not dissolved. His party will contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections with the alliance.
He also stated that the Samajwadi Party is prepared for the panchayat polls early next year in the state.
"I won't react to statements of other people. Our alliance is intact. Anybody who wants to exit can go," Akhilesh informed reporters.
He categorically expressed that the alliance would contest the next polls together.
Significance After 2024 Lok Sabha Results
Akhilesh's remark is significant, particularly in the wake of opposition alliance's stellar showing in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh.
Talking about internal conflicts within the ruling state administration, he explained that there is a power struggle between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. "In a double-engine government, both engines are clashing," he added.
Akhilesh also accused the BJP of attempting to influence the panchayat polls soon to come. He argued that the party was busy doubling the number of panchayats from 52,000 so that the results would be influenced and the opposition vote split.
India Alliance Begins Work for Bihar Elections
India alliance has also started preparing for the Bihar assembly elections to be held soon. The elections are likely to be conducted in the October-November period.
Parties in the alliance are preparing a shared election strategy. They have set the target of finalizing seat sharing in all 243 constituencies in a month. Discussions regarding the strategy have already begun amongst alliance members.
