Israel-Iran War Update: Escalation As Leaders Exchange Warnings

Rising Tensions in West Asia

Conflict has escalated between Israel and Iran. The situation intensified after reports suggested that the United States might enter the conflict directly. U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Khamenei made a public post that has attracted global attention.

Khamenei Responds to Trump’s Threat

Trump posted about the Israel-Iran situation yesterday. He claimed to know Khamenei’s location and said he did not plan to kill him at this time. However, he warned that Khamenei must surrender without conditions or face severe consequences. Following this, Khamenei posted on his official ‘X’ account. He wrote, “The war has begun in the name of ours. Ali has come to Khyber with his Zulfiqar (sword).” A photo attached to the post showed a man with a sword standing at the entrance of a fort, with flames falling from the sky. This post indicated a serious escalation.

Historical Reference in Khamenei’s Message

As reported by The Times of Israel, the post by Khamenei is about a battle that was waged in the 7th century. In that war, the first Imam of Shia Muslims defeated a Jewish city called Khyber. Khamenei put up this post to remember the occasion. He then posted again and declared, "We will respond strongly. We will not show mercy to anyone."

Continuing Missile Attacks

Iran-Israel missile strikes continue. Several explosions were heard early Wednesday morning in Tehran. There were sirens there also. There were similar attacks in Tel Aviv. Because of security threats, officials said that the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem would be closed until Friday. In the meantime, Iran confirmed that it had fired a hypersonic missile at Israel.
