
Terrorism Is a Global Threat, Says PM Modi at G7 Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi proclaimed terrorism to be the largest threat to humankind. He made this announcement during the G7 Summit in Canada. Modi threatened that nations that support terrorism will have serious repercussions.
He talked about the recent Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, deeming it as an attack on humanity. He stressed that there should not be double standards when combating terrorism. In his opinion, all democratic countries should come together against such threats.
India's Position on Global Peace and Democracy
Modi declared that terrorism endangers international peace and stability. He appealed to all the nations that believe in democracy to talk and act against it. He exclaimed explicitly that any state facilitating terrorist activities has to pay the price for that.
Global South Faces More Challenges
Modi stated that nations in the Global South bear the brunt of global issues. They are the first to be hit in times of crisis related to food, fuel, fertilizers, and economic shocks, he added. India, he said, feels the need to highlight these nations' issues on global platforms.
Concerns Over Deepfakes and Artificial Intelligence
The Prime Minister also touched upon the topic of deepfakes. He pointed towards the inclusion of watermarks or plain labels on AI-based content. Modi emphasized cooperation at the international level to control technology. He urged responsible application of artificial intelligence as well as innovation.
High-Level Meetings with World Leaders
While on his visit, Modi held meetings with a number of heads of state. They included Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
First Indian PM Visit to Croatia
As a part of his three-nation European tour, Modi will then proceed to Croatia. It is for the first time an Indian Prime Minister is making a visit to the country.
