Telegram CEO Pavel Durov Plans To Share Wealth With Children Born Through Sperm Donation

CEO and founder of Telegram Pavel Durov has been in the news again. He said that he would leave more than 100 children, born as a result of his sperm donation, in his will.

One year ago, Durov disclosed that he had fathered 100 children across 12 nations in the space of 15 years through sperm donations. These children were born after being conceived using his sperms. In a recent interview with a magazine, he agreed that he had made a will. In the will, he gave equal rights to inheritance among all his children — both those born naturally and those conceived through sperm donation.

Equal Share in $20 Billion Wealth

Durov announced that each one of the 100 children would get an equal portion of his approximated $20 billion inheritance. But he laid one condition on them. The kids will be eligible for their wealth only when they turn 30. He gave reasons to support this, saying that he wishes for them to be independent first before enjoying anything in life.

Details About His Personal Life

Although he is unmarried, Durov co-habits with three permanent partners. They have six children together. He said that he has experienced lots of personal and professional setbacks. Because of the risks, he chose to draft a will at 40.

Background on His Sperm Donation

In 2023, Durov wrote on the Internet about sperm donation. He disclosed that it started 15 years ago when a close friend asked for assistance due to infertility. When Durov was initially surprised, he later consented to donating sperm. With time, he officially signed up as a sperm donor.

He said he had helped more than 100 couples in 12 different countries. Even though he stopped donating years ago, he learned that some families still use his frozen sperm cells today.
