US Vice President Highlights Firm Reaction to Nuclear Threat
US Vice President JD Vance declared that if Iran resumes its nuclear weapons program, it will have serious repercussions. His declaration came after President Donald Trump revealed that there was a ceasefire accord between Iran and Israel. Vance gave these words of warning in a recent TV interview.
He reasserted the US resolve to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear arms. "If Iran attempts to build nuclear weapons anew, it will face the full fury of the US military," he stated. He further said that while the US is not engaged in war against Iran, it is actively countering Iran's nuclear effort.
US Says It Has Neutralized Iran's Enriched Uranium
Vance explained that their target was to destroy Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium. He asserted that the US has succeeded in doing so. In his view, Iran no longer possesses usable enriched uranium for nuclear weapons production. He explained that only intelligence information on the whereabouts of the uranium has been revealed, without finding any physical evidence.
Even after widespread US attacks, no enriched uranium has yet been seized. The US, Israel, and other Western countries charge Iran with enriching uranium-235 to 60–90 percent, a stage sufficient for use in nuclear bombs. Iran's nuclear establishments allegedly store 400 kg of uranium enriched to 60 percent.
Expert Analysis Raises Concerns
Experts told NPR, an American magazine, that uranium enriched to these levels can be employed in some weapons. It is portable and can be transported in small vehicles. They also calculated that the current stock of uranium could possibly fuel as many as ten nuclear bombs.
