Israel Confirms It Tried To Attack Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei

Israel Seemed to Look for Chance to Assassinate Khamenei

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Katz has confirmed that Israel attempted to assassinate Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during recent fighting. He stated they looked for an opportunity but could not. Katz made the revelation in an interview with local media.

According to him, the operation was called off when Khamenei took cover. "If we had located him, we would have taken action. We searched everywhere," Katz said.

First Official Admission of Leadership Targeting

This is the first public Israeli admission of attacking Iran's senior leadership. Israeli forces and intelligence have attacked Iranian nuclear facilities in the past, but this is the first known effort to target a senior official.

Katz also said that Iran had been cautioned to keep Khamenei in secret for many years, like Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah who remains in a bunker.

Trump's Statement on Iran's Supreme Leader

Former U.S. President Donald Trump made a comment on June 17 via Truth Social. He stated, "We know where Iran's Supreme Leader is. He is an easy target. But for now, he is safe. We are not planning to kill him."

Trump further explained that he has no plans on altering Iran's leadership at the moment.

Khamenei Breaks Silence After Hiding

Ayatollah Khamenei spoke publicly for the first time since the war started. In a speech broadcast by Iran's state TV on Thursday, he was speaking to the Iranian nation. Khamenei, aged 86 now, looked fatigued.

He called a recent U.S. base attack in Qatar a "slap in the face" of the United States. He also threatened that any further attacks by the U.S. would have serious repercussions.
