Trump Commends Musk Despite Continued Disagreements
Former US President Donald Trump recently referred to Tesla CEO Elon Musk as a "very wonderful person" despite their continued disagreements. Trump said that he has not really talked much with Musk recently but still regards him as an intelligent person. He agreed that Musk has done great work on different government projects and his efforts are commendable.
Trump was asked why they differed, and he cited Musk's frustration with the repeal of the electric vehicle tax credit. Trump stated that it was a tough decision but that not everybody should be forced to purchase electric vehicles.
Disagreement Is Based on Resistance to Sweeping Legislation
The clash between Trump and Musk came into the open when Musk rebelled against the "Big Beautiful Bill" under Trump's government. Both then made public comments against the other forcefully. Later, Musk apologized for what he said and eased tensions between them temporarily.
On Sunday, Musk re-criticized the same bill. He alerted that the bill would cause layoffs and harm the U.S. economy. He labeled the bill as detrimental and harmful to the nation.
Senate Passes the Controversial Bill
In spite of Musk's protest, the bill was passed in the U.S. Senate by a narrow margin of 51-49. The vote was followed by hours of heated debate. Trump embraced the approval, saying that the bill would be beneficial to economic growth, cut back on wasteful government spending, and boost border security.
