Massive Women's Demonstration in Kovur
Tens of thousands of women in Kovur, Nellore district, have rallied against a YSRCP leader's vulgar comments about woman MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy. Women from various villages took out a procession to the Mandabayalu Center in Kovur town. They are against Prasanna Kumar Reddy returning to the constituency.
Opposition Calls for Strong Action
TDP women leaders registered a complaint at Kovur Police Station. They wanted Prasanna Kumar Reddy to publicly apologize before returning. Local MLA Vemireddy also demanded that he not be permitted into the village until he apologizes.
House Vandalized After Insults
During Monday night, Prasanna Kumar Reddy's house was attacked. Earlier in the day, in a wedding hall at Padugupadu, during a YSRCP meeting, he had made the offensive comments.
Details of the Controversial Speech
During the meeting, he spoke in abusive language regarding Prashanti Reddy. He said that he could arrange any "virgin girl" to marry her. He also condemned Prabhakar Reddy, stating:
"Where were you ten years ago?"
"You own thousands of crores. Be careful. I have information about plotted attempts on your life."
These words annoyed many and caused the present protest.
