Shankarapriya, who was also referred to as San Rachel, was a 25-year-old model from Karamanikuppam, Puducherry. Shankarapriya suffered the loss of her mother due to cancer when she was young. She became successful as a model despite discrimination based on her complexion since she was talented and determined.

San Rachel was undergoing treatment at JIPMER for kidney issues of health. She committed suicide on Sunday by taking an overdose of blood pressure tablets at home.

Reports indicate she was facing financial difficulties, especially after organizing events like fashion shows. These financial losses may have led to her taking the extreme step. Puducherry police have registered a case and are currently investigating.
